00 Audio / high fidelity / high output / made for the room
High-fidelity, high-output systems shaped through a long conversation. We model, revise, colour-match, hand-build, install and tune until each one belongs.
Designed · built · tuned
The Darkroom →Featured project · The Darkroom
A Scottish micro-club wanted clarity, physical impact and a system that belonged in the room. We designed the full system, built every enclosure, installed it and tuned it in place.

“Every track we put on sounds incredible. Every detail comes through crystal clear. When running at lower levels, people can still talk to each other.”
Andy — owner, The DarkroomSpaces built around music

Primary practice
Complete systems for clubs, bars and music-led spaces—from the first room conversation and system design through build, installation, commissioning and support after opening.

Monitoring and playback with reference clarity, physical headroom and cabinetry designed to become part of the room.

One-off systems for artists, serious listeners and spaces where the object matters as much as the listening experience.
The format changes. The starting point does not: your room, your music and what you want people to feel.

Listening is not a discovery stage we hand off. It shapes the acoustic model, the cabinet, the finish and the way the system is commissioned in the room.
We start with the room, the music and the experience you want to create. A call, photographs and a floor plan are enough to begin.
Cabinets, coverage and low-frequency behaviour are modelled before anything is cut. Options stay visible while the direction takes shape.
Every system is built in our UK workshop from professional components and birch ply, with finishes developed around the space.
We position, mount, measure and tune the system in the room, then hand it over with the detail needed to run it confidently.
We remain available after handover for support, refinement and future changes as the room settles into use.

Tools behind the work
We build some of the software we use to explore loudspeaker behaviour—and publish it for other designers and builders.

Latest project · The Darkroom booth
After building The Darkroom's main system, we returned to the booth. A custom pair of point-source coaxial monitors, hand-built in faceted birch, colour-matched to the room and time-aligned with the system out front.
From the booth
“A f***ing dream to play on. Insanely clear from bass to top, even in a small booth. And visually, it completely sets the room — it gives the place a real identity.”

You work directly with the people designing and building the system—not a sales layer between you and the work.
Two people — Matt and Ben — stay with every project, from first references and rolling revisions through material, finish, installation and tuning.
You see the options and shape the direction before the design is locked.
The people who understand the brief stay with it from first sketch to handover.
Performance, proportion, material and finish are considered as one system.

Bring a photograph, a floor plan or a half-formed idea. We will talk through what the space needs, useful directions and what a project could involve. You'll speak directly with the people who design, build and tune every system.
